Due to the large amount of water and the pipes which usually drain all the excessive water being blocked, the Blue lagoon is looking for new solutions to stop the water from overflowing, www.visir.is reports. Suggested is to put sewage pipes in the ground or above the surface to lead the water to the sea. Estimated costs: 500 million kronur.

The shallow kids pool and the waves in the bigger swimarea will be subject to maintenance over the next 2-3 weeks. Maintenance in Álftaneslaug thermal pool will start on wednesday August 26. The pool itself, the hot tubs, the inside pool, the slide, the steambath and other facilities will be open as usual.

The opening hours in the swimmingpool of Kirkjubæjarklaustur have changed according to the winter schedule. The pool will now be open from 15:30-19:00 on Monday - Friday and from 11:00-15:00 on Saturday. On Tuesday til Friday the gym opens at 09:00.

The amusement park in Vatnaveröld (The swimming and sports center in Keflavík) will be closed due to maintenance from Monday 16 August. Expected is that it will reopen again within a week.

The 25 meter outdoor pool, the more shallow pools and steambath however are open as usual. The repairs on the 50 meter inside pool are expected to end on Wednesday 18 August.

Árbæjarlaug swimmingpool will be closed from Monday August 16 due to maintenance. The pool will be open again for public at 06:30 on Friday (August 20).
